Semester Warp-up

When the first time I used WordPress, I felt it familiar. In China, we also have something like blog. For my post, I shared my last summer vacation and talked about my trip. I also introduced my favorite food here. It was Black Meg, but I don’t go there as often as before because the cheeseburger combo is not $5 anymore. Then I shared the place where I wanted to go.It’s Dubai. For the next several post, I talked about my favorite basketball star McGrady and his wonderful career. For the post 12, I was glad to introduce my beautiful hometown, Xiamen. It’s a city in south of  Fujian Province. I was happy to share my post with my classmates and Dr. King.

Xiamen

I am going to introduce my hometown to you this week. 

If you are busy, if you do not take a vacation, spare a few moments from work to relax on a relaxed and beautiful island city. This city is in the south of Fujian Province, China. 

Xiamen, a city that people can wander freely. You can go anywhere you want to go without any travel guide, any strategy, any route. What you need to do is follow your feelings, wandering aimlessly. At there, time is to waste. Seeing the fine shops or that bundle flower came up out of the wall in the corner. Do not look at the map, just take a walk. Then, find the store to sit when you are tired. You will enjoy the scene everywhere in Xiamen,it is unwise if you are in a hurry there. If you want to go to China and like a slower pace of life, I promise it’s your best choice.

For my past seven posts, I talk about a professional basketball player. His name is Tracy McGrady. The most impressive period of his career was in Orlando and Houston. Tracy McGrady scored 62 points in a game when he played for Magic in 2004. On December 9, 2004, there was a game between Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs. In the final moments, Tracy McGrady scored 13 points in 35 seconds. The Rockets magically triumphed over the Spurs 81-80. Also in Houston, he helped the Rockets made a 22-game winning streak. Even thought he had a hard time in the playoff part, but he will be remembered because of his talented skill. Finally, I support him to enter the Hall of Fame.

Hall of Fame

NBA players who has a championship ring may not enter the Hall of Fame, how about others who have no ring? Such as the great player Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Allen Iverson. If until the end of their career, these players still can not get a championship, it shows that they do not enter the Hall of Fame? The answer is no , even if Kevin Garnett did not get the championship , he is still famous in the history of the NBA , he will become a member of Hall of Fame. While those players who do not have good luck in their career as Garnett, it will not prevent them from entering the Hall of Fame. Nash, Jason Kidd, Allen Iverson, and some players who have no championship ring, they are still very hopeful to enter the Hall of Fame. Stockton and Michael Jordan was selected together proved this point. In front of the Hall of Fame , people don’t talk about heroes according to the championship, as long as their career filled with brilliant, regardless of whether they have one, two, or not, then they are likely to be selected to enter the Hall of Fame. I believe McGrady will enter the Hall of Fame one day.

Tracy McGrady finally reached the NBA Finals in June. Two months later, the two-time scoring champion is walking away. McGrady, 34, announced his retirement Monday morning on ESPN’s First Take. A seven-time All-Star, McGrady last played with the San Antonio Spurs. He contributed minor minutes during the team’s postseason run to a Western Conference championship after signing late in the season. McGrady retires with career averages of 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists a game. During his prime, for the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets, he was the NBA’s preeminent scorer. But injuries cut into his promising career by his mid-20s.

22 winning streak

On March 19, 2008, in a NBA regular season, Houston Rockets that ranking first in the west crushing defeated at home by the Boston Celtics, ending the 22-game winning streak by his opponent. However, 22-game winning streak is enough to make the Rockets and of Yao Ming and McGrady go down in history. God has been blessing somewhere Rockets beat the Mavericks when Dirk Nowitzki was suspended, beat Hornets when David West injury, beat Lakers when Gasol injured, and that day’s opponent, union leader, one of the Big Three Celtics Ray Allen was also sidelined due to a sprained left ankle. How could the Rockets come to this step? In large part, they should thank God and relatively easy schedule these months. In the absence of Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady had become more selfless, and he proved that he can make something he had never do in the past. McGrady’s heroics plus tenacious, resilient, aggressive defense, team awareness, role players had more visible role and some other factors helped the Rockets take 22-game winning streak.

In 2004, Tracy McGrady scored 62 points in the game. He became a member of the 60+ points club after O’Neal. Tracy McGrady played 46 minutes that night and he made 20 of 37, including 5 of 14 three-point shots and 17 of 26 on free throw line. He also contributed to the Magic for 10 rebounds and 5 assists. In the opening 18 minutes, Tracy McGrady scored 24 points, the Wizards team had only 23 points. IN the forth quarter, Tracy McGrady missed 10 shots and 9 free throw because of physical shortage. At the end of the game, T-MAC pointed to the sky, looked gloomy. Wizards Gilbert Arenas scored a season-high and he said:” I was struggling to keep up with him, but I had been shot whole night.”

McGrady’s career was awesome. You have no idea how great he was, but he had become worse at the end of his career because of injuries . I found ten of the most exciting games of his career, these amazing data will be respected by future generations. He is the kind of genius that once a century, but God is unfair to him. Even though he was so powerful, but he never exceeded the first round of playoffs. This is the biggest reason for him not being respected. Ironically, his team broke into the second round of the playoffs when he was absent. However, all this has nothing to do with him. God always make fun of him, and then he was old, retired. Bumpy playoff career can not deny his talent and historical status. I hope his future life can be successfully.

For McGrady and his career, different people may have different evaluation. Some people highly praises his basketball talent, but also accused him of not hard working. Some people marvel at his at his dominance in the game, but also feel sorry for he never be able to win a championship. But you can not deny that McGrady made ​​a lot of people elusive achievements in his 16-year NBA career. He became NBA scoring for two consecutive years. He played seven-time All-Star. Furthermore, his  scored 13 minutes 35 seconds in a game. The “McGrady moment” has become a timeless classic that fans always talk about. Since the late career suffered injuries, he did not have much performance. I don’t think he can be a member of the Hall of Fame. However, McGrady’s name will forever remain in the history of the NBA.

That moment is premanent

The competition will always go down in history. I was a middle school student at that time and I started to like basketball. This exciting sport brings me a lot of joy. It has become a critical part of my daily life because of the permanent of T-MAC time. This summer, Tracy played an exhibition match in my hometown and I bought the ticket. Even though he is not as well as before, but I saw him in person. By the way, I also followed Tracy’s car from his hotel to the basketball gymnasium. It was awesome!
